My Secret Santa by Adam

It was the 23 of December and Santa was running the last tests on his sleigh. He checked if there was enough magic dust, he had counted all the reindeer and all that was left to do was the test flight. He was going to go to North Pole just to check if everything was working but accidentally he clicked the South Pole instead. The South Pole button had a danger sign flashing on it because exactly where his sleigh was supposed to enter there was an iceberg right in front of it. As he entered the South Pole he got an awful fright. He tried to swerve out of the way but it’s harder than it seems because he has to turn 9 reindeer.

He crashed right into the iceberg. The reindeer were all right except one. It was Comet. Comet broke his leg he couldn’t fly. Santa rushed   over to him and started working on his wound. “Oh no Comet your leg is broken. We can’t fly with only 8 reindeer. Christmas is only 48 hours away. What will we do?” Then the idea came to him “wait a second ,don’t we have an emergency telephone. It’s in the sleigh.” Santa ran as fast as he could over to the snow covered sleigh. He wiped off the remaining snow from the sleigh and searched the destroyed sleigh for the telephone. He finally found it. It was old and dusty but it survived the crash and that is all that matters. Since it was an old Christmas telephone it didn’t have numbers it had letters very colourful letters. Santa typde XMAS, the phone started to ring. Then eventually it answered “You have reached Mrs Clauses voicemail, please talk after the beep, BEEEP” “Hello this is Santa speaking, we have crash landed in where I think is the South Pole and Comet has a broken leg. When u hear this please send help.” Santa hung up and then Comet started to groan “Remember there is a reindeer who has a broken leg. What are we going to do?” “We are going to find a way back home.”

Santa stripped the sleigh so that all that was left was the sledge part of it. He rolled Comet over on top of it with the help of Blitzen. Santa tied a rope to the sleigh and then tied the rope to the reindeer. Off they went hopefully looking for something to get off Antarctica. They went on and on and on until they came up to an empty plane “ it is our lucky day Santa isn’t it.” “It would be Comet but only if the plane had fuel”,Not a single drop of fuel was left in the tank. Who in the world other than Mr forgetful leaves a plane in the South Pole? Well anyway it doesn’t make a difference to us. No fuel no ride.” “Don’t all of us have a good bit of magic dust? We are all given a bit more just in case anything like this happens. We might be able to use this to our advantage.” After that brilliant idea every single bit of magic dust the reindeer had they smeared it on the plane just hoping that it would be enough. When they finished there were only 25 hours till Christmas. They couldn’t waste any more time.

The plane felt lighter than a feather you could lift it with one finger even your baby finger. They loaded everybody, well every reindeer, on to the little plane. It was no jumbo jet but it was just enough. Santa got into the cockpit than he announced “I don’t really know how to drive this thing but I’ll give it my best shot.” I always thought Santa was a lot of things but a bad pilot is not one of them. They took off and started to wonder who in the right mind would leave a plane in Antarctica. It boggled the whole lot of them. Santa put the plane on auto pilot and started to walk around looking for clues. He gave up and made himself a hot chocolate with marsh mellows as he got the packet of marsh mellow bag there was a sticky note attached to it. It said “Really give up that easy? From your Secret Santa. By the way I got your voicemail.” Santa was surprised even more surprised than I was when I found out Darth Vader was Luke’s father. He walked back to the cockpit smiling with glee. He managed to land the plane right outside his work shop. With 2 hours left the elves remade the sleigh and fixed up Comet’s leg and all was well. With 5 minutes left Santa looked up to Mrs Clause and whispered “Thank you.”
